BRP Andres Bonifacio deployed for resupply mission to West Philippine Sea

Philippine Navy Del Pilar-class offshore patrol vessel BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS17) was sent off today, September 20 at Tide Pole Pt., Parola Compound, Puerto Princesa City for resupply mission to detachments in Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in West Philippine Sea.

Naval Forces West (NFW) commander Commodore Sean Anthony U. Villa led the send off ceremony of PS17 with aboard mission teams composed of sailors, Marines, and airmen.

“Their main mission is to resupply the foods and drinking water of the NFW personnel defending the Philippine island detachments in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG),” NFW said.

“The Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Andres Bonifacio (PS17), commanded by Cmdr. Noel A Laurio PN(GSC) is task to safely transport the Mission Team to the island detachments,” it added.

Commodore Villa reminded every sailors and Marines attending the ceremony especially personnel that will be assigned to the island detachments to be vigilant of their respective duties and responsibilities as “Defenders of the Country’s Western Frontier”.

“The Western Command through NFW continues to perform its mandate of protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of country. Thus, it continuously conduct maritime patrols design to protect the maritime domain and to ensure the safety and well-being of sailors and marines stationed in these far-flung detachments,” NFW said.
