“Last na lang ‘yong sa akin. Kaya ‘yon na ang pinaka-tipping point kaya nag-decide siya nang gano’n,” Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa said in anterview with DZMM on February 19 when asked regarding the termination of Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with United States. Senator dela explained that the cancellation of his US visa was not the very reason why President Rodrigo Duterte decided to terminate the VFA.
“It was a series, accumulation of disrespect, pakikialam, intrusion sa ating sovereignty na ginagawa ng mga Amerikano,” the Senator said.
He also said that Philippines and US mutually enjoyed the benefits of VFA.
“The advantages were beneficial to both parties. They learned from us and we learned from them. Exchange ‘yun,” dela Rosa said.
“Kung sabihin mo na meron silang binigay sa atin na hardware, na ganito, na gano’n, wala. Hindi sila nagbibigay,” he added. “In fact, sa hearing nga namin, sabi ng Chief-of-Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na ‘yung gastos nila during the training nila dito, during one of the exercises nila dito sa Pilipinas, chinacharge nila as aid nila sa Pilipinas. Parang foreign aid nila.”
“Gano’n kasalbahe ‘yung mga tao na ‘yon. Igastos nila sa sundalo nila tapos sabihin nila na tulong sa Pilipinas,” Senator dela Rosa said.
