A total of 214 Abu Sayyaf surrenderors received food packs during a project launch in Isabela City, Basilan June 24, 2019.
Balay Mindanaw, a peace and development foundation primarily engaged in promoting equity-based development and sustainable peace, initiated the project that aims to prevent and transform violent extremism in Basilan.
During the project launch this morning at 4th Special Forces Battalion,Cabunbata, Isabela City, Basilan, food packs were distributed to the 214 ASG surrenderors present during the said activity.
The activity was graced by Australian Ambassador, His Excellency Steven Robinson AO; Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Secretary Carlito Gavez, Jr.; Chief Minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Al Haj Murad Ebraim; Representative of the Lone District of Basilan, Honorable Mujiv Hataman; Basilan Governor, Honorable Hadjiman Hataman Salliman; Western Mindanao Command Deputy Commander for Operations, Brigadier General Generoso Ponio; 104th Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Fernando Reyeg; Balay Mindanao President and CEO, Charlito Manlupig; other AFP and PNP officers and men; local chief executives; and other invited guests.
Additionally, a forum of the Peace Stakeholders on the Normalization Program in the Bangsamoro was also held this morning in Bishop Querexeta Formation Center, Isabela City Basilan.
This was attended by representatives from the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, AFP, PNP, and MILF-BIAF.
Presented during the forum were: the updates in the Bangsamoro Peace Process; Orientation and updates on the Implementation of Normalization Components; and the orientation and updates from the Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities Coordinating Committee (CCCH) and the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (AHJAG).
