ASEAN–United States Maritime Exercise 2019 culminates in Thailand

The Philippine Navy (PN), along with other ASEAN and United States navies, successfully concluded the ASEAN – United States Maritime Exercise (AUMX) 2019aboard HTMS Krabi (RTR) along the gulf of Thailandon Friday, Sep06.

PN patrol ship, BRP Ramon Alcaraz(PS16) joined6other warships, 3 aircrafts, 3chartered commercial ships as Vesselsof Interest (VOI)for the Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) during this exercise held from Sept.02 to 06 wherein,United States and Royal Thai Navy is the hosting countries of the AUMX 2019.

Participating navies arrived at the designated exercise arealast Sept. 03, after a weeklong sail from the different countries to participate in the AUMX 2019.

HTMS Krabi (RTN), USS Montgomery (LCS-8), KDB Darulaman (RBN), RSS Tenacious (RSN), Myanmar Frigate King KyanSitt Thar (F-12) and Vietnam Corvette 18 joined in this exercise where a Photo Exercise (PHOTEX) and VBSS culminated the activity.

Meanwhile, the parallel closing ceremonywas conducted at the Information Fusion Center(IFC)inChangi,C2 Center, Singapore by the Command Support Element Ashore who acted as the LNOs of the different participating nations.

Cesista proudly uttered that “The Philippine Navy had achieved its goal in this exercise. We were able to enhance our maritime operational capability to multilateral level thereby increasing our readiness and interoperability while engaging our partner navies.”

The participation of the Philippine Navy in this maritime drill between ASEAN navies and U.S. Navy strengthens the relationship and enhances cooperation with other foreign navies in promoting peace and stability in the maritime region. PHILIPPINE NAVY
