Around 13 billion pesos allocated for the current Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program had been diverted to help fund the government’s response against COVID-19 pandemic, National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in a report by Onenews.ph.

The national defense chief did not mention what AFP modernization projects were affected.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is now occupying most of our time,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

“We are lucky that we have not had any disasters, no typhoons yet, no earthquake, whatever, and hopefully, before calamities come and visit us, we will be able to fight this pandemic,” he added.
