Army troops encounter ASG in Sulu, 1 terrorist neutralized

The troops of Philippine Army’s 41st Infantry “Partner for Peace” Battalion operating under 11th Infantry Division conducted an operation against around 20 Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) terrorists on April 28 at Barangay Tumatangis, Indanan, Sulu.

The Army said the encounter lasted for around 9 minutes resulting to enemy withdrawal and neutralization of one ASG member. 

“Continued pursuit operations led to the collection of enemy items including one M16, one M203, five long Magazine for M16, 98 pieces ammunition for 5.56mm, two ammunition for .40mm, one bandoleer, two back packs, four cellphones, improvised Solar panel, food items, personal belongings and shabu paraphernalia,” the Army said.

Philippine Army commander Lieutenant General Gilbert I. Gapay commended the operating troops.

He also urged the troops to “remain vigilant against our enemies and continue to perform with dedication in protecting the innocent populace especially in this time of crisis.”
