The Philippine Army’s 19th Infantry Battalion (19IB) is now back to its mother unit 8th Infantry Division in Samar Island.
19IB was sent to Mindanao four years ago to provide support in internal security operations under the 10th Infantry Division.
“The unit’s departure was capped with a Send-off Ceremony held on June 11, 2020, at the Old Airport, Sasa, Davao City,” the Eastern Mindanao Command (EMC) said.
EMC commander Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr. led the send off for the said battalion.
10th Infantry Division commander Major General Reuben Basiao and 901st commander Brigadier General Gabriel Viray III were also present.
“19IB troopers notably served as one of the responders during the series of earthquakes in Mindanao last year. They have also served as frontliners of government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic this year in their former area of responsibility,” EMC said.
