“It is my first time to treat former BIFF rebels in a different kind of urban warfare. It is Victor’s first birthday celebration in 36 years,” Lieutenant Colonel Cabunoc said.

He added that it was the former BIFF members’ first time to see a mall in the city. He also said that it was the first time they ate halo-halo.

“It is their first bonding time with their former adversary, the Makabayan Battalion commander,” he added. “Most importantly, it is our first time to greet all Great Moms out there a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’,” he added.

“We are praying that there will be no more grieving mothers who lose a son in the senseless bloodletting in Mindanao and the whole country as a whole,” the Army officer said.

In an earlier statement, Cabunoc said not all BIFFs have terrorist mindset.

“Inalam ko ang socio-political and economic dimensions ng peace and security problem sa lugar na aking kinasasakupan at ginawan ko ng paraan gamit ang iba’t-ibang tools kagaya ng combat actions kontra sa mga tigas-ulo, civil support operations (show of good governance) at peacemaking para maipanalo ang kampanya sa terorismo at kriminalidad,” he explained.
