Army Aviation Regiment celebrates first activation anniversary

The Philippine Army’s Army Aviation ‘Hiraya’ Regiment celebrated its first activation anniversary at Headquarters Aviation Regiment, Fort Ramon Magsaysay, Palayan, Nueva Ecija today, July 6.

The celebration, graced by Philippine Army commanding general Lieutenant General Gilbert I. Gapay, was themed as “Hiraya: Kaagapay sa Katuparan ng Modernong Hukbong Katihan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran”.

The Army commander commended the regiment for their contribution to the Army’s COVID-19 efforts, as well as their conduct of aerial reconnaissance and maritime patrols over Northern Luzon, Eastern Mindanao, and Western Mindanao Command.

He also congratulated the regiment in their modernization efforts, particularly in the training of additional aviators, rotary-wing pilots, multi-engine rating, and air traffic personnel.

He noted the unit’s efforts in improving existing doctrines as a result of added capabilities and changing operational environment.

“President Quezon uttered these words 83 years ago but they currently speak about us: ‘Our Army is rapidly taking form as an agency equipped to provide for future Philippine security.’ Indeed, we are getting closer to our vision of a world-class Army that is a source of national pride, and I can see that in you,” Lieutenant General Gapay said.
