Armed Forces chief has COVID-19

Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff General Felimon Santos Jr. has tested positive for COVID-19. This was confirmed by National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

The result of General Santos’ diagnostic test was released March 26. Secretary Lorenzana added that he had two recent contacts with the AFP chief.

“Protocol says I have to self-quarantine for 14 days,” Lorenzana said.

“I had close proximity with him on two occasions: in VAB (Villamor Air Base) during the turn over of medical supplies to me last Sunday p.m, 21 Mar, and again last Monday afternoon 22 March, here in GHQ and at the Heroes Hall, Malacañang,” the defense chief said.

AFP Public Affairs Office said General Santos is “well and in good health condition. He will be in his military quarters where he will continue the discharge of his duties and responsibilities.”
