Allotment for acquisition of Russian RPG launchers, ammo released

A Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) worth PHP408 million was approved by Department of Budget and Management (DBM) June 13 to cover the Rocket Launcher Light Acquisition Project under the Horizon 1 of the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program.

Russia’s Rosoboronexport CEO/Director General Alexander Mikheyev and National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana signed a contract for the delivery of Russian-made RPG-7V launchers and ammunition for AFP at the sidelines of 4th ASEAN Defence Ministers-Plus Meeting in October 2017 in Clark, Pampanga.

The signing was witnessed by Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu.

According to information released by MaxDefense Philippines, the project involves acquisition of 744 units of shoulder-fired RPGs from Russia.
