Alejano on Bato’s kudeta dare: ‘I do not suggest it pero pag nangyari ito walang iyakan ha’

“Ano ba ang kudeta? Alam niya ba na ang hinahamon niya dito ay mga sundalo at police,” Magdalo Partylist Representative Gary Alejano said in statement after Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said he will defend the Duterte administration even against coup d’etat.

“I do not suggest it pero pag nangyari ito walang iyakan ha, Gen Bato,” Alejano said.

Alejano quoted the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, Article 134-A (as amended by R.A. 6968), on how coup d’etat is committed. “The crime of coup d’etat is a swift attack accompanied by violence, intimidation, threat, strategy or stealth, directed against duly constituted authorities of the Republic of the Philippines, or any military camp or installation, communications network, public utilities or other facilities needed for the exercise and continued possession of power, singly or simultaneously carried out anywhere in the Philippines by any person or persons, belonging to the military or police or holding any public office of employment with or without civilian support or participation for the purpose of seizing or diminishing state power.”

Article 135 of the Revised Penal Code says “any person who promotes, maintains or heads a rebellion or insurrection shall suffer the penalty of reclusion perpetua.”

“Manigas sila. Hindi nila kayang ibagsak ’yung presidente na elected by the people at ’yung trust rating is 83 percent. Manigas sila,” dela Rosa said on Saturday at the alumni homecoming of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) when asked by reporters if the opposition is powerful enough to bring down the Duterte administration.

“You want to bring down the Duterte administration? Over my dead body. Giyera tayo. Kayo, kung gusto niyo giyera. Kung sinong gustong magpabagsak sa Duterte administration, giyera tayo, hinahamon ko kayo. Gusto ninyo ng kudeta, magkudeta kayo. Giyera tayo. Huwag niyo kong takutin,” he added.
