An airstrike and joint-combined arms operation conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the hinterlands of Mt. Lumuton in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on December 25 prevented the convergence of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) – New People’s Army (NPA) belonging to Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR) for their 52nd founding anniversary celebration, Philippine Army 6th Infantry Division (6ID) said.
Major General Juvymax R. Uy said the operation against CPP-NPA, FSMR was launched after President Rodrigo Duterte declared no ceasefire this holiday season.
“Gamit ang ating air assets at joint-combined arms operations, mabilis nating naitaboy ang tangkang pagtipon-tipon sana ng mga rebelde at itinayo natin ang bandila ng Pilipinas dito sa nakubkob natin na kuta ng NPA,” Major General Uy said.
According to military report, the operation resulted to the death of 3 NPA members, recovery of several high powered firearms, IEDs (Anti-Personnel Landmines), laptops, 2 sets generator, subversive documents and other war materials.
Clearing operations is also being conducted by troops in the area.
According to 6ID, villagers reported sightings of armed men proceeding to Mount Lumuton early this week from upland towns in South Cotabato province and Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat prompting military troops tp conduct focused military operations.
