AFP vows to protect sovereignty against threats

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has vowed to continue protecting the sovereignty of the country against threats. The statement was made in response to the alleged AFP’s demoralization issue regarding China’s militarization in WPS.

“We are conducting normal air and naval patrols in our different area jurisdictions,” the AFP said.

“The AFP will remain united and committed to protect our sovereignty against threat groups that undermine the security of our nation,” it added.

The statement was also released amid report the China has deployed anti-ship cruise missile and surface-to-air missile systems in West Philippine Sea (WPS).

According to the report, China has installed missile systems in Kagitingan (Fiery Cross) Reef, Zamora (Subi) Reef and Panganiban (Mischief) Reef in the Spratly Islands.
