80 PAF Officer Candidates begin 15 months of rigorous training

Eighty aspiring and courageous Officer Candidates of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Officer Candidate Course Class 2020 were formally received this afternoon by their upperclassmen, the PAF OCC “MAHARLAKAN” Class of 2019, during their Reception Rites at Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command (AETDC) Grandstand with MGEN JOSELITO B RAMOS AFP, Commander, AETDC as Keynote Speaker.

These 18 fearless women and 62 brave men will undergo rigorous 15-month training at Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate School (PAFOCS) spearheaded by its Commandant, COL IRVIN D TANAP PAF (GSC).

Their physical, mental and emotional stability will be tested to their limits by their upperclassmen and the School’s training staff as they transform from the comforts of the civilian lifestyle to the profession of being a military officer.


Philippine Air Force Officer Candidate Course Class 2020 prides itself in possessing:

35 graduates of engineering-related courses
10 graduates of aviation-related courses
10 graduates of business-related courses
9 graduates of computer-related courses
2 graduates of education-related courses
14 graduates of other courses

They are expected to complete the course by December 2020. Thus, this officer pre-entry training offered by AETDC through PAFOCS is in support of the Command’s Thrust of PADAYON PAF which gears towards achieving capable and credible airmen who will soon be leaders with excellence that the organization and our country needs.
