Two separate anti-drug operations in Cavite and Parañaque City resulted in the arrest of two Chinese nationals and confiscation of more than PHP1.054 billion worth of shabu, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Monday.
PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva, in a statement, said 39-year-old Man Kuok Wong, alias Jose Baluyot Wong, was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Sunday at around 4 p.m. in Villan Nicacia, Tanza Numa 6, Aguinaldo Highway, Imus, Cavite.
Seized from Wong were 117 kilos of shabu worth PHP795.6 million concealed in tea bags, marked money, cellular phone, a Toyota Corolla with plate number TPF 197; Mazda CX-5 with number NCU 5075 and Nissan GTR with conduction sticker F2P 235.
In Parañaque, Zhizun Chen, 38, was arrested by a joint team of police and PDEA agents in a parking lot of a supermarket in Barangay Baclaran at around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Police recovered 38 kilos of shabu worth PHP251 million also concealed in tea bags, a mobile phone, a maroon Mitsubishi Lancer with plate number WFG 362, and a silver Chrysler with plate number WIV 952.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Maj. Gen Vicente Danao, said the suspect and recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition.
“Napakalaki ng naging operasyon ng mga ahensyang nagsama sama upang masabat ang nasabing halaga ng hinihinalang shabu. Ang ganitong kooperasyon at koordinasyon ang susi upang higit na marami pa tayong makumpiska at mahuling tulak at source sa ating bayan (The operations of the agencies that have come together to seize the said amount of suspected shabu have been huge. Cooperation and coordination is the key to the confiscation of more illegal drugs and arrest of more drug dealers who are the source of these contraband),” Danao said in a statement.
The arrested suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. PNA.GOV.PH
