Zambo City police drug enforcement chief fails drug test, faces dismissal

PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas vowed to spare no one in the ongoing program to purge the police ranks of drug users. “Anybody who will test positive for drug use does not deserve to stay in the service any minute longer,” he said.

The Chief PNP reiterated his firm stance against drug abuse among PNP personnel as he ordered the restrictive custody of the Chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of Zamboanga City Police Office.

Police Major Jivertson D Pelovello has been reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Section of Police Regional Office 9 while undergoing pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings.

Sinas said Pelovello was among 60 personnel of Zamboanga City Police Office including 12 CDEU personnel who were tested by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office last December 18, 2020. Pelovello was initially screened and a subsequent confirmatory test last January 6, 2021, yield a positive result.

Western Mindanao PNP Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan reported to the Chief PNP that Pelovello has been disarmed of his issued firearms and slapped with corresponding administrative charges. PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE
