Accompanied by Gov. Jim Hataman-Salliman, Cong. Mujiv Hataman, Sumisip Mayor Jul-Adnan Hataman, Maluso Mayor Hanie Bud, other local government officials, JTF Basilan Commander Col. Domingo Gobway, and other military officers, Maj. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. checked on the 200-hectares lot donated by the local government to the AFP which will be converted into a military reservation.

Sampinit Complex used to be a stronghold of the local terrorist group in Basilan. It was known as “springboard for satanic acts” because it was where most kidnap victims were beheaded in the past after they or their families failed to pay the ransom.

The military was able to penetrate this enemy stronghold with the support of the local chief executives, local leaders, and the populace.

“We want that this area is converted into a military reservation for it to be off-limits to lawless groups and be declared as a ‘peace zone,” said Gov. Hataman.

Likewise, Maj. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. also visited the Mahatallang Roundball. It is the new highway from Mahatallang area to the adjoining Punoh Lumot and Punoh Timugen at the Sampinit Complex.

“I am personally elated seeing the fruits of our soldiers’ hard work and dedication,” said Maj. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

“Their indefatigable service led to the restoration of this sanctuary. Rest assured that we will continue their legacy by eliminating hostility and bringing about the normalcy in the area,” the commander added.

“More so, this is attributable to the past and present local chief executives of Basilan who relentlessly support us in all our endeavors,” Maj. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. concluded.

During his visit to Basilan, Maj. Gen. Vinluan was accompanied by Brig. Gen. Camilo Balutan, Deputy Commander for Operations; Lt. Col. Yasser Bara, Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Intel; Col. Jessie Montoya, Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Operations; Lt. Col. William Victorino Upano, Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Logistics; Col. Antonio Rafael Abundabar, Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Plans; Cdr.
