US Marines commandant visits AFP, Philippine Navy


The Commandant of the United States Marine Corps General David Berger visited the Philippines on September 10 to 11 and met the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Navy.

Representing the AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr., Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria welcomed the U.S. Marine General at the AFP General Headquarters on September 10.

In their meeting, the importance of U.S.–Philippines’ alliance in maintaining peace and stability in Asia- Pacific region were highlighted. Sustaining and improving the interoperability and relations between the two nations’ armed forces, and the importance as well of the bilateral exercises conducted such as Kamandag and Balikatan were emphasized.


General Berger also visited the headquarters of the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Marine Corps where he was met by Vice Admiral Adeluis Bordado, Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command and Major General Ariel Caculitan, Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps.

The defense cooperation between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America is one of the foundations of the two nations’ strengthening partnership. ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES
