Unexploded ordnance, believed to be remnant of war recovered in Pasay

The National Capital Region Police Office Regional Director, PMGEN DEBOLD M SINAS commended the prompt response of the EOD-NCRPO, Southern Police District SWAT/EOD PASAY City Police Station for another job well done – the safe recovery of an alleged Unexploded Ordnance at the Light Rail Management Corporation (LRMC) construction site located at LRMC Depot, Andrews Ave., Brgy. 190, Pasay City on August 14, 2020 at about 4:00 in the afternoon.

Investigation disclosed that the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) described as one corroded 81mm mortar was unearthed during an excavation at the construction site and believed to be explosive remnants of war. Sensing danger, backhoe operator immediately reported the same to his supervisor Eng. Abad Mirhan who eventually sought for police assistance from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, (NCRPO-RMFB) personnel who were stationed inside the said Depot.

The report/information was coordinated immediately and was responded promptly by the Regional EOD Canine Unit, NCR, SWAT-EOD personnel with Pasay SECU personnel. The personnel of RMFB, NCRPO acted as first responders.

After conducting the Render Safe Procedure (RSP), one (1) UXO was recovered and properly turned-over to the EOD-SWAT Pasay for continuous monitoring and proper disposition.

PMGEN SINAS commended the promptness and efficiency of the personnel from EOD-NCRPO, SWAT-EOD and Pasay SECU. Further, he emphasized the significance of immediate reporting of information to the police. “Again, I encourage the public not to hesitate to report any relevant information to the police so that appropriate response will be taken immediately for the safety and security of the people in the Metro,” he added.
