Sailors, Marines in Pag-asa Island conduct flag raising, awarding ceremony


Sailors and Marines assigned at Naval Station Emilio Liwanag (NSEL), Municipality of Kalayaan, Pag-asa Island, West Philippine Sea conducted Flag Raising and awarding ceremony to deserving personnel assigned at NSEL on May 10, 2021 (Monday).

The activity was spearheaded by the Island Commander, Lieutenant Rey S Tibay PN who presided awarding of Bronze Cross Medal to four (4) personnel and Letter of Commendation to Outgoing Philippine Air Force and Philippine Coastguard personnel deployed thereat.

The activity was held as a tribute to their selfless service in support to mission accomplishment of Naval Forces West in territorial defense operation and sustaining nationalistic pride and presence in the disputed islands.


Further, gift packages composed of assorted goods donated by stakeholders from Manila was also distributed as part of the Command’s morale and welfare objectives.

The said activity is a manifestation of the Command’s continuous mission in protecting the Country’s Western Frontier despite the prevailing challenge brought about by current pandemic. NAVAL FORCES WEST
