The Phillipine National Police led by Chief PNP, Police General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa turn-over today P228,445,207 to the Department of Finance headed by Secretary Carlos Dominguez as proceeds from #Team PNP Bayanihan Fund Challenge to help poor families during the Enhanced Community Quarantine as well as the “New Normal” or General Community Quarantine.
The country’s top finance official said that this donation to government is a heroic and a rare display of citizenship. This 228.M is also PNP’s version of “SAP” or Sariling Alay ng Pulis” para sa mahirap which is a project of the PNP Chief implemented by PMGen Benigno B Durana Jr, the Director of PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations to raise P200 Million Aid to help feed the poorest of poor throughout the pandemic.
“Aside from our fight against COVID-19, the most challenging battle our government and the rest of the nation is facing is our struggle against poverty which composes majority of Filipinos; the homeless, daily wage earners, marginalized and the poorest of the poor throughout the country. Thus, PNP personnel voluntarily contributed from their salaries as our way to help government take care of poor Filipinos in this prolonged fight against the Pandemic,” said PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac.
This Bayanihan Fund Challenge is conducted together with another PNP voluntary donation drive called “Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko!” Adopt a Family Program as the 205,000 strong PNP are encouraged by the Chief PNP to support poor families in their localities. Police General Gamboa also expressed his gratitude for the continued support of businesses, organizations, groups and individuals through donation to help all our heroic frontliners particularly the health workers as well as PNP and AFP personnel defend our country from COVID-19.
“The PNP together with the AFP is in full support with the Father of our Nation, our Commander-in-Chief President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to strictly implement government guidelines as we all face this prolonged new reality amid the pandemic. We encourage our financially abled countrymen to support poor Filipinos sustain this battle against this new virus.
