PNP Maritime Group rescues 13 passengers in Palawan


Seaborne police operatives rescued 13 distressed passengers of a stranded motorized boat off the coast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on Sunday, January 3.

Citing reports reaching the PNP Command Center in Camp Crame, PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas said the motorized indigenous boat M/B JKJ skippered by Joemar Mueden with 12 local tourists on board was stranded due to engine trouble and rough seas along the coastal waters of Barangay Manalo and Barangay Maruguyon, Puerto Princesa City at 8:00PM on Sunday, January 3, 2021.

Aboard the Dauntless Class Police Patrol Boat 007, police personnel from the PNP Maritime Group’s 2nd Special Operations Unit rescued the distressed passengers and safely brought them ashore.


The boat had just come from Isla Puting Buhangin in Barangay Manalo when it experienced engine trouble along the way amid a heavy downpour and rolling waves, the report said.

Rescued were: Rolando Sta. Maria, Phil Mesaje, Paul Castillo, Joy Villarias, Christian Zamora, Regie Camama, Ambrocio Alolod Jr., Renalyn Monleon, Maricar Monleon, Raymond Evangelista, Ricky Doronila, and Joana Mueden. PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE
