PNP chief sends 100 troops for Cebu ECQ operations


The Philippine National Police is fielding a 100-strong police augmentation force to Central Visayas in support of ongoing operations to enforce the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the region particularly in Metro Cebu where a spike in COVID-19 cases was recorded recently by DOH.

PNP Chief, Police General Archie Gamboa directed the Police Regional Offices in Western Visayas and Eastern VIsayas to send their respective regional augmentation contingents comprising 50 personnel each for deployment to Cebu City upon the recommendation of PNP Deputy Chief for Operations and concurrent Joint Task Force Covid-19 Commander, PLTGEN Guillermo Eleazar after the IATF-MEID reimposed ECQ in Cebu City on Monday due to rising number of COVID-19 cases.


The Chief PNP likewise ordered the Director for Integrated Police Operations in Visayas (DIPO-Vis), Police Major General Israel Dickson to coordinate and monitor the troops that will start moving into to Cebu City today, June 18.

The Regional Health Services of PRO6 and PRO8 were tasked to ensure that all have undergone requisite health checks prior to departure from their home regions. PNP-PIO
