The Philippine Fleet officially activates the Fleet Reserve Squadron with the Commander, Philippine Fleet, Rear Adm. Loumer P. Bernabe PN at Headquarters Philippine Fleet, Naval Base Heracleo Alano on, March 25, 2021.
The Philippine Fleet initiated the sustainment of the service excellence among its internal and external shareholders. Part of the initiatives is to capacitate fleet units and personnel learning capabilities towards modern naval warfare to include the organizational repair and maintenance of the Philippine Fleet assets. The PF sets out its initiatives focusing on the doctrines, organization, training, materiel, personnel, leadership, and facility (DOTMPLF) spectrum. However, these initiatives may require the technical assistance of the PN reservist experts in order to develop a sound and robust plans and programs.
The objectives of the Fleet Reserve Squadron (FRS) are: To organize the pool of reservists with different technical expertise peculiar to the PF; To strengthen the integration and utilization of PN reservists in the Philippine Fleet; and to capacitate PN reservists while on Active Duty Training (ADT) status.
In Commander, Philippine Fleet message, “The creation and subsequent activation of our Fleet Reserve Squadron (FRS) was purposely undertaken in order for our fleet units to have a readily available Reservists that will provide technical assistance for their respective programs, activities and projects.” he said.
“The Fleet Reserve Squadron will not only address the concerns in proper management of PN reservist experts but also enhance the integration and utilization of PN reservists who support their mandated mission as the base for the expansion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the event of war, invasion or rebellion. With this, the PN reservists shall be given the opportunity to capacitate their learning capabilities and to strengthen their interoperability with fleet regular force as they will work together in their respective field of specializations towards common goals” Rear Adm. Bernabe added.
The activity was conducted under the new normal situation with strict adherence to health and biosafety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. PHILIPPINE FLEET
