Pag-asa Island energized by National Power Corporation


The Joint Task Unit Pag-asa headed by its commander LT Rey S Tibay PN and other officers attended the ceremonial switching of Kalayaan Diesel Power Plant and Distribution Line.

Present throughout the event is Ms. Corazon D. Claridad, the Executive Assistant of the Municipality of Kalayaan and at the same time daughter of Hon. Mayor Roberto Del Mundo, Mayor of Kalayaan.

Also present in the event is Mr. Vicencio R Milan, Island Coordinator together with other officers and councilors of Barangay Pag-asa.

The National Power Corporation project was started on June 2020 last year and then completed and inaugurated yesterday(12 June 2021) to coincide with the celebration of the 123rd Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

The energization of Pag-asa Island is one big step to development that will improve the lives of all of its inhabitants military and civilian populace alike.


“They can now monitor the worldwide news and watch TV anytime they want” as LT Tibay PN stressed during his message.

The NAPOCOR has on hand two 150kW generator sets and two fuel tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters for each tank and with an estimated consumption of 340 liters for the duration of 24 hrs.

LT Tibay also expressed his gratitude to the on-site engineers of NAPOCOR namely Engr. Rogelio Balagtas, Engr. Melvin Alejandrino, and Engr. Jonas Fuertes for overseeing the day-to-day activities that led to the completion of this project and likewise gave emphasis that “the most important resources for any organization may it be government or private is people. Because people or human resource is the foundation of all among resources.”

Pag-asa Island is the first among the 8 islets under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Kalayaan to be energized by the National Power Corporation. NAVAL FORCES WEST
