Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago led the blessing and formal inauguration of the Port of Claveria in Cagayan on February 3, 2020.
Siguro bago matapos ang 3rd quarter ay paparito ako ulit upang i-inaugurate yung Pata Lighthouse,” said Secretary Tugade in his keynote speech.
The transportation chief deeply acknowledges the help this port project would bring for the locality, which previously has no major modern, seaport. The improvement of the Claveria Port is a vital transport facility which will complement the the Cagayan Port and Basco Port in Batanes in the delivery of goods, cargoes and passengers.
Considering the present difficult transportation situation of the people in the port hinterlands, the improvement of Claveria Port shall provide economic and social benefits to the populace for having a more reliable transport infrastructure.
This project will also bring improvement in the social well being of the people through increased mobility and economic development brought about by increased economic and tourism acrivities. Aside from vessels, international cruise ships can also dock in the newly-inaugurated pier of Claveria.
Joining Secretary Tugade were DOTr Usec. for Finance Garry De Guzman, Usec. for Administrative Service Artemio Tuazon Jr., CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco, Asec. for Procurement and Project Implementation Giovanni Lopez, and Asec. for Communications and Commuter Affairs Goddes Libiran.
