The Philippine Navy air component, the Naval Air Wing (NAW), has deployed aircrafts to undertake necessary transports related to governments campaign against the corona virus pandemic now grappling almost the entire country.
Navy Helicopter 431 flew in medical personnel from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 7 from the Naval Forces Central in Cebu to the province of Siquijor to pick-up specimen samples for COVID-19 meant for further testing. This will help create the COVID-19 profile of the region in order for the department to craft and implement policies and take necessary actions to prevent the spread of corona virus disease and assist those who may need medical attention.
Also, Navy Islander NV310 provided aeromedical evacuation of the patient from Jolo, Sulu to Zamboanga City medical facility who was experiencing stroke. After which, pilots and aircrew of NV310 underwent sanitization and disinfection process to eliminate possible contamination from COVID19 in compliance to the inter-island transportation protocol set forth by the national and local government.
Philippine Fleet leadership guarantees the readiness of the Navys air assets to render the necessary assistance and services to our country and the Filipino people, saying that “Your naval aviators, maintenance officers, and aircrew are always ready to take on missions in support to the countrys fight against COVID19”.
Said efforts are in line with the Navy chief, Rear Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo directive to devote all available PN personnel, assets and resources at the disposal of the government and other cognizant agencies as we all together fight to defeat this pandemic. NAVY.MIL.PH
