Marine Force Recon Group gets new Commander


MGen. Ariel R. Caculitan PN(M), Commandant, Philippine Marine Corps, installed Col. Enstein B. Calaoa Jr. PN(M)(GSC) as the new Commander, Force Reconnaissance Group during the change of command ceremony at Headquarters, Force Reconnaissance Group on May 31, 2021.

Col. Calaoa commanded various levels of command in the AFP including Company Commander, 62nd Force Reconnaissance Company; Operations Officer, Force Reconnaissance Battalion; Operations Officer, Executive, and Commanding Officer of Marine Battalion Landing Team-9; Operations Officer, Military Intelligence Group-6; Commanding Officer, Military Intelligence Group-17; Chief Operations Division, Combat Intelligence Group, GHQ, AFP; Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Operations, N3, HPN; and Director, Naval Operations Center, HPN.


A special operations and intelligence expert, Col. Calaoa underwent trainings in Bundesnachrichtendienst (Federal Intelligence Service) in Germany and INTERPOL and completed a tradecraft course in the US. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bantay Laya” Class of 1994.

MGen. Caculitan underscored to Col. Calaoa the need to focus on enhancing the lethality of the Force Reconnaissance Group and maximizing its full capability in support of the Corps’ mission. PHILIPPINE MARINE CORPS
