As part of its holiday tradition, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) on Monday unveiled its Christmask-themed LRT-1 train dressed up with a giant face mask and face shield to remind passengers of the health protocols amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Aside from sporting face mask and face shield, the LRT-1 train highlights the country’s front-liners in the fight against Covid-19 from medical to service sectors on each side of the train.
“This design is a tribute to the tireless dedication and efforts of the country’s brave workers to keep essential services running in the face of the pandemic,” the LRMC said in a statement.
The train also bears the “Ingat Angat Tayong Lahat” campaign logo of the Task Force T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), a multi-sectoral public-private consortium of companies to boost businesses while ensuring the public’s health and safety.
During the launch of the Christmask-themed LRT-1 train at the Baclaran Station, the LRMC distributed safety kits to LRT-1 passengers.
Juan Alfonso, president, and chief executive officer of the LRMC, encouraged the public to celebrate the holidays while remaining safe from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Covid-19 pandemic hit the country hard, and we know that this year’s Christmas celebration is going to be very different from what we’ve all been used to. But even Covid-19 cannot take away the Christmas season and its meaning to all of us,” Alfonso said.
He said the holiday train’s theme for this year is meant to reinforce the public’s sense of safety.
“One way we do that is by constantly reminding people to wear masks and face shields properly on top of our existing best in class safety measures,” Alfonso said. PNA.GOV.PH
