Gov’t troops engaged in a firefight at Capas, Tarlac

On 28 April 2020 at around 04:20 in the morning, the troops of 710th Special Operations Wing (SPOW) engaged in a brief firefight with undetermined number of CPP-NPA-Terrorists (CNT’s) members in the vicinity of Sitio Pisapungan, Brgy Sta Juliana, Capas, Tarlac. After the firefight, the CNT’s scampered to different direction, no fatalities from both the government and enemy side has been reported.

BGEN EDWARD L LIBAGO AFP, Wing Commander, 710th SPOW said, “We have received several reports, namely, presence of armed groups brandishing their firearms which created panicked and fear to the populace especially to the children’s and giving threats to the CNT Non-Supporters Indigenous People Elders. And as a government force that ensures the safety of the Filipino people, we will not remain blinded and deaf by these reports.”

“In the recent days, the 710th SPOW is currently conducting Patrolling and Advance Security within the vicinity of Brgy Sta Juliana, Capas, Tarlac in connection with the distribution of the Special Amelioration Program headed by the Local Chief Executives, the MSWD Capas and other government agencies. The said enemy disturbance is a mere manifestation of atrocity; they don’t sympathize on what we are facing right now. Today is the time that Filipino people must unite to fight the unseen enemy of the state – the COVID-19. We are asking our countrymen to stay vigilant, and report to any Government State Forces if you’ve seen presence of armed groups in your community.”, he added. PAF 710TH SPOW
