Army’s 2nd Infantry Battalion (2IB) were conducting pursuit operations in connection with the recent encounter happened last April 19, 2020 in the same area when concerned people in the community reported that suspected armed rebels left several firearms in a copra-drying shack at Sitio Diwata, Barangay Salvacion of the said town.

Upon scouring the area, the troops were able to recover seven M16 rifles, one M4A1, one M653, one shotgun, 13 long magazines and assorted ammunitions.

It can be recalled that an hour-long gunfight ensued between the government troops and the communist terrorists in the same place last Sunday which resulted to the recovery of several firearms and ammunitions.

As of the moment, a total of 16 high powered fire arms and other important equipment and documents were recovered from the CTG.

Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) under MGEN FERNANDO T TRINIDAD AFP commended the brave troopers of 2IB under LtCol. Sigfried Awichen for the job well done and once again, thanked the public for the prompt report and cooperation in the government’s fight against the CTG.

Furthermore, Gen. Trinidad believes that this is a clear indication that the people are already tired and fed up of the CTG’s useless cause which only brings harm and violence to the innocent civilians and to the communities.

Gen. Trinidad once again encouraged the CTG members to lay down their arms, surrender and live a long and peaceful life with their families.

JTFB emphasized that it is never too late for them to abandon the armed movement and avail of the numerous programs and benefits awaiting under the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC). 9ID PAO
