The new Commander of the 101st Brigade/Joint Task Force Basilan formally assumed in a change of command ceremony held at the Headquarters, 101st Brigade, Camp Luis R. Biel II, Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan in the morning of July 9, 2020.
In his assumption message, Col. Domingo B. Gobway expressed his gratitude to the AFP leadership for the trust and confidence they gave him.
“As I assume command of this Brigade, expect that we will work as a team and together we will outsmart our enemies and put premium in working hand-in-hand with our stakeholders,” Col. Gobway said.
Col. Gobway replaced Brig. Gen. Fernando M. Reyeg who will assume as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, AJ8.
Brig. Gen. Reyeg, in his message, reckoned the accomplishments of the Brigade under his leadership.
“Today, with all humility, I live you the beautiful island of Basilan ready for further development,” he added.
Col. Gobway is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990.
The turnover ceremony was presided by 1st Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Generoso M. Ponio.
Maj. Gen. Ponio commended Brig. Gen. Reyeg for the outstanding performance and numerous accomplishments of the 101st Brigade under his leadership and likewise, challenge Col. Gobway to do the best effort.
On the other hand, Lt. General Cirilito Sobejana, Commander, WestMinCom presented the plaque of appreciation to Brig. Gen. Reyeg for his outstanding performance as a commander of JTF Basilan.
Other guests who graced the ceremony were: the Local Chief Executives of Basilan led by Governor Jim Hataman-Saliman; officers and men of the Western Mindanao Command; stakeholders; partner agencies; and the family and friends of Brig. Gen. Reyeg and Col. Gobway. WESTERN MINDANAO COMMAND
