Australia, PHL hold defense ties history exhibit

Secretary of National Defense Delfin N. Lorenzana, together with Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven Robinson, led the opening of the exhibit entitled “Mateship and Bayanihan: The Story of Philippine-Australia Defence Ties” at the QCX Museum, Quezon Memorial Circle on 17 October 2019.

In line with the country’s commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Leyte Gulf landings during World War II, the exhibit highlighted the “strong ties forged” between the Philippines and Australia during the war.

“This exhibit is a valuable contribution to the fulfillment of our mandate. We are supporting of its objective of making many people aware of Australia’s vital role in the WWII. It is also an opportunity for us to highlight also the cooperation between Philippines and Australia in times of adversity,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

Ambassador Robinson also emphasized the partnership between the two countries. “Bayanihan is all about talking friendship, solidarity, and cooperation. We bring ourselves together in times of adversity to work together for the common good,” he said.

The exhibition is open to the public until 30 October 2019, Monday-Friday, from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENSE
