Army chief personally commends troops in successful sea clash with 7 ASG

On November 15, Philippine Army commanding general Lieutenant General Cirilito Elola Sobejana visited Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista in Busbus, Jolo in Sulu to give awards and commend the troops in connection with the successful conduct of operation against the ASG bandits that led to the neutralization of seven (7) Abu Sayyaf Group members in a sea clash near Sulare Island earlier this month.

Additionally, said operation resulted to the recovery of numerous high powered firearms and other war materials that are being used by the bandits in perpetrating atrocities. Allegedly, if not foiled in the said clash, the ASG bandits could have spread and extended their violence and terroristic acts in the Province of Tawi-Tawi, as revealed by intelligence operatives.

LtGen Sobejana personally pinned the awards of four (4) gold cross and two (2) silver cross to Officers and soldiers who directly participated at said operation. The awarding ceremony was assisted by BGen Manuel Sequitin Assistant Division Commander of 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division, and Col Giovanni T Franza Assistant Division Commander for Retirees and Reservist Affairs.
