The 48IB will be swapped with another Battalion under the 10th Infantry Division’s area of responsibility in the Davao Region.

In his remarks, the Commander reminded the troops that as soldiers they should be flexible and adapt to change at all times.

“Hindi na bago ang patuloy na pagkakaroon ng panibagong destinasyon at panibagong liderato, for it is a mark of a good soldier and an officer to be assigned in various areas and positions of leadership as he climbs his career ladder,” he said.

“Sana ay manatiling aktibo ang Guardians Battalion at makita ng mga taga- Mindanao ang inyong kakayahang maging tunay na ‘Guardians’ sa inyong bagong tahanan. May you successfully earn the trust and respect of the people over there,” the Commander added.

Simultaneous with the send-off for the unit was a Change of Command Ceremony as Lt. Colonel Felix Emeterio M. Valdez relinquished his position as Commanding Officer 48IB to Lt. Col. Enrique B. Rafael, the former Executive Officer of the 701st Infantry Brigade based in Mindanao.

In his remarks, Lt. Col. Valdez told his troops: “As you will be dipped into another geographical location, I am confident that you can make the most of what has been offered and you can accomplish the assigned task with flying colors. Alam ko kung ano ang kakayahan nyo bilang Guardians at naniniwala ako as inyong kakayahan bilang tagapagtaguyod ng kapayapaan at kaayusan. Continue to raise and wave the flag of Guardians Battalion.”

He also acknowledged the trust and confidence of the stakeholders, government agencies, the community, and his troops in his accomplishments during his 2-year stint as 48IB Commander. 7TH INFANTRY DIVISION
