The Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA) led the activation of the 15th Forward Service Support Unit (15FSSU) at the Army Support Command (ASCOM) today, June 3, 2020.

The 15FSSU, which will be led by Lt. Col. Cyril P. Dawaten, serves to expand ASCOM’s capabilities of delivering various logistic supplies and providing support to the administrative and operational requirements of PA units.

The unit will specifically respond to the logistical and support services of 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division and other Army units in Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, which play a critical role in securing the backdoor regions of the country against the Abu Sayyaf Group and other terrorist groups.

Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay, the CGPA, stated that 15FSSU’s activation is only the beginning of ASCOM’s future initiatives such as boosting personnel readiness; strengthening coordination with other logistics units of major services; improvement of Procurement Management Office; and upgrading of the Army’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) platoon to company.

“In the new normal, 15FSSU will serve a far greater purpose. As even now amid the pandemic, the country depends so much on the Army’s logistics; and we expect this to continue. As a newly activated unit of ASCOM, I welcome 15FSSU to the ways the Army wins wars,” Gapay said. PHILIPPINE ARMY
