The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines made his official visit to the Headquarters Philippine Army (HPA) today, July 28, 2020.

Gen. Felimon T. Santos Jr., who is about to bow out of the military service upon reaching the mandatory age of retirement in a few days, recalled his memorable and significant assignments in the Army during his talk to men. “The Army molded me into the kind of leader which prepared me in my role as your Chief of Staff,” he said.

Together with the Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay, he also graced the Ribbon Cutting and Blessing of Facilities of the renovated Silid Andres Bonifacio, also known as the Commander’s Lounge.

“We aim for operational and organizational excellence, modernization, strong partnerships with stakeholders, and the well-being of our personnel. I am delighted that these improvements exemplify the fulfillment of these thrusts,” addressed Gapay. “The challenges of the pandemic cannot hinder our aspirations to be a world-class Army that is a source of national pride. I am confident that these newly renovated facilities bring more blessings to our Organization,” he added.

On the other hand, the 53rd AFP Chief expressed confidence that the Philippine Army is on the right track towards becoming truly world-class. “I am very fortunate to be part of this worthy endeavor of the Philippine Army that aims to improve its delivery and quality service, through the enhancement of facilities that support the operations of the organization,” remarked Santos during the event held inside the lounge, which was initially installed 20 years ago through the initiative of the then CGPA, Lt. Gen. Voltaire T. Gazmin.

“Let these undertakings inspire us to continue innovating in this new normal as we find ways and means to further improve not only our facilities but our capabilities as well,” said Santos.
