AFP enjoins members to register for Philippine ID System

Helping the government promote a peaceful and secured nation, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday enjoined its members to register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

“The Philippine ID will not only provide us with a valid proof of identification, it will help government forces in the effort to hunt down terrorists, criminals and unscrupulous individuals who hide behind false identifies,” AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria said.

In coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the AFP facilitated the PhilSys registration for military personnel, civilian human resource and dependents at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand in Camp Aguinaldo.

The PSA allocated 15 PhilSys registration kits that can accommodate 600 to 750 individuals per day.

The registration is dedicated to offices of the AFP, Department of National Defense (DND) and other bureaus from July 12 to August 10, which will target around 15,000 registrants.

Among those who registered for their Philippine ID were DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Office of Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad.

Present in the launching of the activity was Provincial Statistics Officer for PSA NCR Mr. Apolinar Oblea who led the team of personnel deployed for the Step 2 Registration.

The national identification system facilitates government transactions and programs, promote transparency, and provide them access to financial services, social protection, health, education, and other government services.

“The AFP supports the implementation of PhilSys as it shares mutual concerns and interest for public welfare. This endeavour to ease our people’s access to government services will significantly help us in our fight to address the root cause of armed conflict and radicalization,” Lieutenant General Gloria said.
