Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana lauded the Eastern Mindanao Command (EASTMINCOM) and their outgoing commander Lieutenant General Jose Faustino Jr. for their success against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) during the EASTMINCOM Change of Command on March 8 at Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan, Davao City.
Lieutenant General Faustino was replaced by Major General Greg Almerol as the former took the helm of the Philippine Army as its Commanding General.
During the ceremony, the AFP Chief lauded Lieutenant General Faustino and highlighted the Command’s success on Anti-CTG operations.
“Under your leadership, the Command’s sustained and aggressive security operations have resulted to the conduct of 627 combat operations that pressured and forced our enemies to move out from their guerilla bases and further decimated and degraded their armed capability,” Lieutenant General Sobejana said.
Under Lieutenant General Faustino’s stint as EASTMINCOM Commander, the Command were able to dismantle four Guerilla Fronts and one Pulang Bagani Command and weakened five other Guerilla Fronts in the EASTMINCOM area of responsibility.
“Unmistakably, these noteworthy achievements demonstrate Lieutenant General Faustino’s steadfast leadership and in placing emphasis on accomplishing EASTMINCOM’s mission in support to the defined goals and targets set forth in their Campaign Plan “Kalinaw Sidlakang Mindanao”. You have certainly ensured the continuity and sustainment of the successes of your predecessors, and capably led Team EASTMINCOM to greater heights,” the AFP Chief added.
Lieutenant General Faustino was replaced by Major General Almerol a well rounded intelligence and civil military operations officer, was the Commander of 903rd Brigade, Deputy Commander of Southern Luzon Command, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, J2, and the Commander of 2nd Infantry Division.
