AFP chief commends soldiers for completing desalination system in Mavulis Island

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Cirilito Sobejana commended the military personnel for the completion of a Water Desalination/ Purification System in Mavulis Island, Batanes.

General Sobejana attended the Inauguration of the Desalination System together with the Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana on Wednesday, May 26.

“We have addressed one of the basic needs of our personnel and our people through this system,” General Sobejana said.

The project was completed through the collective efforts of Naval Forces Northern Luzon, Naval Construction Engineering Brigade, 522nd Engineering Construction Brigade of the Philippine Army and Northern Luzon Command in partnership with AFP Savings and Loan Association, Inc (AFPSLAI) and the Provincial Government of Batanes.

The desalination system can store up to 3,000 liters of water for consumption of personnel and fishermen in the area. This project is part of the “Every Island Counts” of the AFP which aims to develop forward stations in the country’s northern territories.

“Hindi ako magsasawang magpasalamat sa lahat ng inyong kakayanan upang makamit natin ang kapayapaan at maisulong ang kaunlaran hindi lamang dito sa Northern Luzon kundi sa buong isla ng Pilipinas,” the AFP Chief said. AFP.MIL.PH
