Acquisition of Russian Mi-17 helicopters still being studied: defense chief

“The PAF (Philippine Air Force) wants to acquire the Mi-17. There is no contract yet nor a contract will be signed in Russia during this trip,” National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said as quoted by Business Mirror.

This is amid reports that the Philippines poised to order 16 units of Russian Mi-17 medium-lift helicopter. Also according to reports, a contract can possibly be signed during this current trip of President Rodrigo Duterte to Russia.

Secretary Lorenzana also said that a technical working group is still studying the said helicopter.
