3 NPA members in ‘sabotage mission’ killed, police in hot pursuit

Police security forces are in hot pursuit of a group of communist New People’s Army insurgents on a sabotage mission that engaged elements of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A (RMFB4A) in a fire fight yesterday in Brgy San Antonio, Kalayaan, Laguna.

Reports reaching PNP Chief, Police General Archie Gamboa from PRO4-A Regional Director, PBGEN Vicente D Danao, Jr. confirmed the death of three (3) Terrorist Group members initially identified as, DIOSCORRO CELLO alias Ka Termo, and two (2) others known only as Ka Omar/Efren and Ka Danny/Mar/Rey.

Cello is the Platoon Leader of Platun Laguna-Quezon, Melito Glor Command, Main Regional Guerilla Unit, Southern Tagalog Region, and General Secretary of Cesar Batrallo Command.

He is the subject of an arrest order with a PhP 3.8 Million reward for information leading to his capture.

“The Philippine National Police condemns in the strongest terms the latest act of hostility of the New People’s Army in Laguna amid the health crisis we are facing right now”, Gamboa expressed.

The encounter lasted for an hour between more or less 40 members of CPP/NPA/NDF Terrorists and the RMFB4A while the said troops were scouting for a sheltering area relative to Oplan Dirty Dozen project of PRO 4-A.

Troops recovered from the slain insurgents four assault rifles, a grenade launcher, IED bombs, triggering devices, radio transceivers and hundreds of rounds of assorted ammunition.

Gamboa commended the members of RMFB4A for their immediate action preventing the insurgents from causing further distress and damage to the community.

To avoid similar incidents, the PNP National Headquarters reminded anew all Police Regional Offices to be more vigilant, enhance personnel security and conduct preventive and proactive operations in coordination with AFP Units against the CPP/NPA, lawless elements and criminal groups.

Meanwhile, PBGen Danao urged the public to denounce these acts of the NPA and support the effort of the government by providing them information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE
