Military troops neutralized two local terrorists amid mounted offensives June 5 in Patikul, Sulu.
Combat troops of the 6th Special Forces Battalion heavily engaged about 40 local terrorists while on patrol in Sitio Barangay Kan-ague, Patikul at 8:25am on June 5.
Troops retrieved two enemy cadavers and found traces of bloodstains indicating heavy casualties on the enemy, according to Maj. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Joint Task Force Sulu commander.
“Troops relentlessly hunt down and constrict the movement of terrorists with their purposive offensives. We buckle up our campaign to defeat bandits and seize their strongholds in Sulu,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command.
“We, however, mourn the deaths of four more comrades-in-arms. They died, serving our country and paying the ultimate sacrifice for peace and progress,” he added.
Seventeen incurred wounds during the 40-minute skirmish.
Troops immediately extricated the wounded for prompt medical attention at Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Hospital in Jolo, Sulu.
Soldiers transported the remains of three fatalities to Zamboanga City for proper disposition. The wounded were further brought to this city for treatment.
The remains of another fatality was accorded burial rites in accordance with the Muslim tradition in his hometown Patikul, Sulu. WESTERN MINDANAO COMMAND
