185 aspiring soldiers begin journey

Members of the Candidate Soldier Course Class 653-2020 took their oath at 6th Infantry Division Grandstand in Camp Siongco, Maguindanao Sunday, December 20, 2020.

A total of 185 aspiring soldiers, composed of 183 for regular enlistment and 2 for special enlistment, stood before the Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division Commander, Major General Juvymax R. Uy as they took oath before they were sent to the Division Training School (DTS) in Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

There were thousands of applicants who went through strict selection process in order to ensure that the most competent candidate will be recruited and will be honed to be among the ranks of the soldiers of the Philippine Army. A total of 185 applicants were selected after successfully passing all the mandatory requirements such as physical, medical, neurological and psychological examinations.

After their oath, the candidate soldiers were brought to DTS for a rigid 14-week military training broken down into 3 modules: Transformation, Basic Squad Training, and Application of Knowledge. This training will mold them to become well-disciplined, competent and capable soldiers to fill in the enlisted ranks of the Army.

Maj. General Uy told the candidate soldiers to stay positive and expect the harshest condition while undergoing basic military training in the boot camp.

The commander also left a message to the Commandant of Division Training School and the Training Staff not to abuse but to train well the candidate soldiers.

The CSC CL 653-2020 is composed of 166 males, 10 females and 9 candidate soldiers from Sulu. 6TH INFANTRY DIVISION
