The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced the repair completion of Tubigon Port which was severely damage when 7.2 earthquake hit Bohol in 2013.

“After DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade’s inspection on 26 March 2018, he directed Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago and PPA Region VII Port Manager James Gantalao to fast-track the repair of the quake-damaged port,” DOTr said.

The repaired port can now accommodate up to 28 ships and an average of 4,000 passengers daily, a marked improvement from its former average daily capacity of 10 ships and 1,500 passengers.

“It can now harbor larger vessels, and has three (3) Ro-Ro berths that can hold landing craft tanks (LCTs) and barges,” DOTr said.

It added that the port’s air-conditioned Passenger Terminal Building has a baggage X-ray machine and walk-thru metal detector.
