Infra & Development

Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade led the inauguration ceremony of the newly renovated Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) and extended runway of the Marinduque Airport today, April 11.

Located in Brgy. Masiga in the municipality of Gasan, the airport’s development project was launched to address the growing demand for improvement which serves the general area of the island province of Marinduque. The operations of the Marinduque Airport halted in 2013.

The rehabilitation project improved the 560 sqm. Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) by dropping the height of its ceiling, installation of air conditioning units, and replacing its accordion walls with glass walls, making it more convenient, safer, and more secured.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) implemented the PhP12-million concreting project of the airport’s runway which was also completed on 9 November 2018.

Officials also present in the inaugural ceremony are Marinduque Governor Romulo Bacorro, DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Communications Goddes Hope Libiran, Tourism Assistant Secretary Myra Abubakar, and CAAP Deputy Director General for Administration, Major General Ricardo Banayat.
