The Department of Transportation (DOTr), led by Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan, conducted its #BUILDBUILDBUILD Media Tour starting at the MRT-7 Station 2: Quezon City Memorial Circle today, 17 July 2019.

MRT-7 is a 23-km rail line which consists of 14 stations from North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Once completed, this will accommodate at least 500,000 passengers a day and reduce travel time from 4 hours to 34 minutes from North Avenue to San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

To date, MRT-7 has achieved its 44.98% total completion with 37.49% complete for civil works and 53.09% complete for rolling stocks and electro-mechanical works. Construction of stations, works on elevated, at-grade and underground guideways and foundation works for the new alignment are currently ongoing.

During the media tour, San Miguel Corporation, the MRT-7 concessionaire, also announced that the 108 train cars or equivalent to 36 train sets are already 100% completed and are ready to be delivered in the Philippines from South Korea. Three (3) batches of rails are also completed and delivered.

DOTr targets its partial operability by the end of 2021. “Tulad sa lahat ng ating proyekto, continuous and incessant ang ating efforts, together with our private partners, to shorten and speed up to achieve partial operations”, said Usec. Batan.

Usec. Batan also provided an update on the announcement of the resolution for the depot located in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. DOTR
