Maritime university launches training ship

Iloilo City-based John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) has launched its training ship M/V Capt. John B. Lacson. The said training ship was inaugurated on December 12.

“M/V Capt.John B. Lacson is managed and operated by JBL Maritime Vanguard Services,Inc. This training ship aims to enhance the hands-on, shipboard training of maritime and marine engineering students,” JBLFMU said in its official social networking page.

Iloilo City Mayor Jose S. Espinosa III attended the said inauguration ceremony.


“Your leading expertise in the maritime sector is certainly a boost and welcome development to Iloilo’s long-time recognition as forever a home to excellent and skillful seafarers,” Mayor Espinosa said.

“It is also very pleasing to note that your school always serves as one of the best training grounds equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to cater to the enhancement maritime industry and hardworking people taking the career and profession to greater heights of achievements,” he added.
