The runway of Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is currently undergoing overlay and repair works. In connection with this, the runway will be closed from 1:30 am to 6:30 am from September 1 to September 21.
“This came after Transporation Secretary Arthur Tugade’s inspection at the MCIA runway and discovered cracks and potholes,” the Department of Tansportation (DOTr) said.
“The Transportation Chief ordered the immediate repair of the runway putting premium to passenger safety and comfort,” it added.
DOTr noted that aside from fixing the old runway, Secretary Tugade is also open for a plan to construct a new runway to accommodate more traffic and pave way for future flight expansions.
